Inauguration of nddc
The president used the occasion of the nddc inauguration to re-outline hisvision of the niger delta development commission, which he said, has thepotential to "offer a lasting solution to the socio-economic difficulties ofthe niger delta region which successive governments have grappled with evenbefore independence in 1960". He emphasized, "the commission is an agencyand one of the stakeholders in the development of the niger delta region.
Its activities do not preclude other federal government development
Programmes that are normally due to the states. Nor is the nddc intended toinhibit initiatives that are the normal responsibilities of the stategovernments.
